Papich heads west for Duel in the Desert at Las Vegas

Jason Papich of Papich Racing returned to action on Thursday evening at the Las Vegas Dirt Track (Las Vegas, Nev.) for the second annual XR Super Series-sanctioned Duel in the Desert.

With 42 Late Models in the pit area, Papich started off the night by clocking the 10th-fastest time in his qualifying group before losing one spot in his heat race to finish sixth. After not transferring to the A-Main in his consolation race, Papich received a provisional starting spot which allowed him to line up 24th in the running order for the $20,000-to-win feature. Papich made up two positions and completed 12 laps before ultimately finishing 22nd.

For another $20,000-to-win feature on Friday, Papich qualified ninth-quickest in his group before finishing second in his heat race. Earning the eighth-starting position in the feature, Papich ran a steady pace and crossed the line in ninth.

On Saturday evening, Papich timed in the 13th-fastest lap in qualifying before going forward three spots in his heat to finish fourth, locking him into 50-lap main event. With $40,000 on the line, Papich went from 13th-to-eighth in the feature.
